Other Literary Events: Howl Yowl, Monday, February 28, 6:30pm

Thanks to everyone who attended yesterday’s Valentines to Earth reading and the community gardening panel that preceded it.  You made the afternoon’s festivities a great success.  If you enjoyed the  works of the local writers who read their environmental poetry at this event, you can hear more at Howl Yowl on February 28 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at The Yippie Museum Cafe in the East Village.

Howl Yowl, a celebration of the poetry of Allen Ginsberg, is being hosted and presented by Gordon Gilbert, one of the poets who participated in Valentines to Earth.  This tribute to a Beat-Generation legend will feature performances by an impressive gathering of writers, including Peter Martin, the event manager for the Sunday Best Reading Series and another of the poets who lent their voices to yesterday’s event.  Patricia Eakins, Sunday Best curator and MC, will also be reading.

The Yippie Museum Cafe is located at 9 Bleecker Street (between Elizabeth and Bowery Streets).  Other writers slated to perform at Howl Yowl include Big Mike, Brant Lyons, Angela Peluso, Puma Perl, Robert Gibbons, Brenda Morrisse, Michael Schwartz, Viviana Grell, Ronnie Norpel, Jackie Sheeler, Kim Kalesti, Orion 0.62, Zey Torres, David Lawton, and Jane Ormerod.  Admission is $2 at the door.  (Although you are invited to share your enthusiasm for Allen Ginsberg as an attendee, there will, unfortunately, be no open mic readings at this event.)
